Youth Service America and 911 Day of Remembrance

Ten years ago, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. Children often suffered the most. It soon became clear: U.S. emergency planning did not account for children's unique needs. A decade later, Save the Children's annual disaster report card finds some important progress, but far too many serious gaps remain. Many U.S. communities remain unprepared for disasters.

In partnership with Save the Children and the Corporation for National & Community Service, YSA is calling on youth leaders to help their communities be prepared to stand strong during disasters by organizing disaster preparedness awareness events (Prep Rallies) and community service projects (Prep Projects) on September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance.

To help you plan, we're proud to offer the brand new We Stand Strong: A Disaster Preparedness Toolkit that combines YSA's Youth Changing the World Toolkit and Save the Children's Prep Rally Youth Service Toolkit. Download your free copy of the toolkit at: www.YSA.org/911day

Register your Prep Rally or Prep Project on the We Stand Strong Event Map atwww.YSA.org/911day. After you register, you'll be able to claim your We Stand Strong badge to share on Facebook and LinkedIn.
