A Visiting Volunteer~

We got a call this week from a man who is visiting from Seattle. I thought this was a great example for all of us! How many of us think to get involved in volunteer work when we visit other cities? Take a look at Steve's story in his own words:

My name is Steve. I came from Seattle to visit a friend I've known for 8 years but had never met in person here in Logan. I have set an appointment for job seeking at the local DVR. but still have a week to kill and would rather be productive in the local community than stay at home and stare at the wall. As a result, I connected with Raymond and Sharilee at the Cache Valley Volunteer Center and talked about places I could be of use and how to go about that. I've already visited the Whittier Center and Global Village Gifts. GVG has given me a chance already to get plugged in there. If you are in a similar situation, then I encourage you to get out there and see what you can find.          ~Steve

I encourage everyone to look around and see what YOU can do to get involved in the community the way Steve has, even though just visiting for a short time. Is there something you can do at your child's school? Is there something that needs some attention in your neighborhood? Maybe it's something (or someone!) right in your own home that needs a little attention. Just think what could happen if each one of us committed to spend just a few minutes each day, or even each week, doing something to make the world a better place?
