About The Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism
The Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism (UCSV) is the state's central coordinating body for service and volunteerism.  

The Commission is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a vision and culture of civic engagement and national and community service within the state. UCSV does this through; promoting volunteerism; administering National Service programs; connecting people with opportunities to serve; building organizational capacity for effective volunteer engagement and; participating in strategic initiatives that mobilize volunteers to meet local needs.

Recognizing Outstanding Youth Leaders

Deadline: December 4 
The Youth Leadership for Service-Learning Excellence Award recognizes service-learning programs and projects that demonstrate outstanding youth leadership. This award focuses on projects that show a high level of youth initiative in all areas including identifying an authentic need, planning the service, and putting that plan into action. Teams of young people participating in service-learning projects can apply. 


 The Evan Dalgaard Leadership Award recognizes a young person who exemplifies leadership, social justice, and a love for life; all of which Evan Dalgaard stood for. Since 2008, the National Youth Leadership Council has honored the memory of Evan Dalgaard by bestowing this award to a dedicated young champion of service.

Recognizing Outstanding Service Learning Instructors~

Deadline: December 4 
The Service-Learning Practitioner Leadership Award recognizes those who have equipped young people to lead and serve, both through their direct work with youth and by nurturing other practitioners.

The Bernard Gill Urban Service-Learning Leadership Award honors individuals who, by example, have played a leadership role in urban schools, communities, and the lives of young people. Bernard Gill, a beloved NYLC staff member, was a pioneering leader in the urban service-learning movement. He organized the first and successive National Urban Service-Learning Institutes and was passionate about the engagement of African-American males and the impact service-learning could make on their lives.

Every Day Capacity Building Grants

Deadline: October 30  
The National Environmental Education Foundation's Every Day Capacity Building Grants will strengthen the stewardship of public lands by strengthening Friends Groups (nonprofit organizations whose missions are focused on serving public land sites) with grant funds of up to $5,000 to help build their capacity to serve public lands

Looking For Ways to Honor Your Volunteers?


Honor Your Volunteers
The Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism offers volunteer recognition certificates for Utah nonprofits to recognize outstanding volunteers. The Lt. Governor's Volunteer Recognition Certificate is aimed at recognizing just a few of the many volunteers helping to make Utah a better state, while promoting and inspiring further ongoing volunteer efforts.

This is a great way for nonprofit organizations to recognize the outstanding efforts of volunteers who are really driving the organization and making a positive difference. They take time out to help YOU ~ Please take a few minutes out to recognize them!

Make a Difference Day 2015!

On October 24, millions of Americans will take part in Make A Difference Day. Newman's Own supports the day by awarding $10,000 to the charities of each of the 10 national honorees, three community Make a Difference Day awardees, and one All Star honoree.
