Art on the Lawn

When I offered to take engagement photos for my sister last summer, I knew just the place to go. My weekly drive to the North Logan library with my kids took me past a lovely old home on 2300 North (a street my kids call 'Deer Street' for the deer we so often see wandering  there). I thought the gorgeous orange poppies lining the street in front of an old wood fence would make a great background.  We arrived and set out to ask permission of the owners to take pictures, and found another group there setting up for a wedding to be held on the property a few days later. From them I first learned about Art on the Lawn and the generosity of the owners, Cary and Lucy Watkins.

Art on the Lawn is an annual fundraising event where local artists can show and sell their work, and even set up and create new works of art. Celebrating its 10th year, the  activity will host artists, observers, musicians and performers along with a silent auction all at the Old Home and its surrounding property. Created to celebrate Cache Valley artists, Art on the Lawn has now raised over $65,000 which has been given to various local groups -- high school art programs at Logan, Mountain Crest and Skyview High Schools, the Alliance for the Varied Arts, Friends of the North Logan Library, and the Cache Education Foundation.

Admission is free, so come support local artists from Cache Valley and enjoy a beautiful day of art in a wonderful summertime location!  (Interested in helping with this event? Contact Lucy Watkins at 435-752-4749)
