Cache Valley Storytelling Festival this Saturday
I had a marvelous time…was soaking it in… amazing… I was completely entranced… These are all words that Wayne McKay, founder of the Cache Valley Storytelling festival used to describe attending one of his first storytelling festivals four years ago. A storyteller himself, Wayne's experience at the Timpanogos festival had him hooked and he continued to attend festivals throughout the state. After a little while, he began to watch not only the storytellers, but every detail about how these festivals worked. It wasn't long before he decided that Cache Valley would be the perfect place to host a storytelling festival of its own.
Even with years of observing, bringing a storytelling festival to Cache Valley required an enormous amount of work. Beyond his own efforts, Wayne credited the great mentors who have helped him with the festival preparations, encouragement and support from some amazing storytellers who will be presenting at the festival, and exceptional sponsors who have far surpassed expectations in their help and support.
This Saturday, the first Cache Valley Storytelling Festival will be hosted at ElkRidge Park. North Logan City has partnered with the festival to provide all of this year's activities free of charge. (Similar festivals have single day ticket prices up to $25, so this is an amazing opportunity!) Come and enjoy a day full of stories, music and entertainment!
There are many hands needed to put on an event like this, and you're help will be hugely appreciated! If you'd like to help out in any way, please contact Sharilee at cachevolunteercenter@gmail.com.
