Families Serving Together!!

The Hall Family Shares Their Story of Service

UServeUtah has been collecting stories of service. I would like to share an inspiring story they received about how the Hall Family volunteers together.

Heidi, Audrey, and Scarlett Hall had the opportunity to join a friend's church group serving food to the homeless on a chilly November morning. On the drive home, Audrey said to Heidi, "Mom, that was so much fun! But I felt bad for the people who couldn't eat the apples because of their teeth."

That sentiment sparked something in Heidi. To have a child enjoy service but also recognize the challenges that many of our community members face was a critical element to her upbringing. Since then, the Hall family has committed to doing a service project every month -- sometimes large, sometimes small--but something every month. Since that November morning in 2009, the Hall family has logged over 100 hours doing at least one project every month.

Just like most families in today's world, they are busy with school, activities, and work. Doing their monthly service project allows them to slow down and do something together. It's an activity they can do as a family and something they can feel good about. "Volunteering together gives us a connection and a dialogue that we can all center on," said Heidi Hall.

What can you and your family commit to? What will you do? What are you passionate about? If you're looking for ideas on how you can volunteer as a family visit us online

Do you have a story of service to share with us? Share it with UServeUtah here and the Cache Valley Volunteer Center here

It only takes a few minutes and your story may inspire others to serve!

Make Every Day A Mandela Day~

MandelaDay2014.jpg

Nelson Mandela International Day is in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday on July 18 and inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.  It is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy. It is a global movement to honor his life’s work and act to change the world for the better. www.MandelaDay.com

The Express Clydesdales Will Be in Logan!!

The Express Clydesdales Visit Logan The Express Clydesdales are coming to Logan on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 and will appear at the Express Employment Professionals and Cache Valley for Hope fundraising event.

Express Pros, a locally owned and operated staffing and recruiting company, is excited to take this opportunity to raise money to benefit local families affected by cancer. With the help of the Express Clydesdales, we will be offering the chance to meet the horses, take photos, and have a carriage ride. There will be food, face painting, bounce house, and raffle prizes. This is a fun event for the whole family. We will be offering participants full access for $5/person or $20/family of 5+, with all proceeds going to Cache Valley for Hope.

Of a rare black and white color, the Express Clydesdales stand 6 feet high at the shoulder and weigh over 2,000 pounds each. Their shoes are the size of dinner plates and weigh over three pounds each. They’re beautiful, graceful, and extremely even tempered. They are the reigning National 8-Horse Hitch and National 6-Horse Hitch Champions. Not only do the Express Clydesdales meet thousands of visitors each year at home in Oklahoma, but they travel across North America as ambassadors for Express Employment Professionals and help raise millions of dollars for charities. Each year, they star in some of the world’s most famous parades like Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Tournament of Roses Parade, and they’ve also had the honor of chauffeuring the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate, during a visit to Calgary in Alberta, Canada.

What the Express Clydesdales love doing most is meeting their friends and fans at home and on the road, and supporting community efforts along the way. We are so excited to partner up with some of our local businesses, to give support to Cache Valley for Hope families, and also enjoy this family event together.

Change the WORLD by Changing your WORDS

How powerful are words?

One LDS ward in Utah decided to measure the power of words by doing an experiment.

Words to the song:

                                                                             "Words"

They've made me feel like a prisoner
They've made me feel set free
They've made me feel like a criminal
Made me feel like a king

They've lifted my heart
To places I'd never been
And they've dragged me down
Back to where I began

Words can build you up
Words can break you down
Start a fire in your heart or
Put it out

Let my words be life
Let my words be truth
I don't wanna say a word
Unless it points the world back to You

You can heal the heartache
Speak over the fear
(Speak over the fear)
God, Your voice is the only thing
We need to hear
(We need to hear)

Words can build us up
Words can break us down
Start a fire in our hearts or
Put it out

Let my words be life
Let my words be truth
I don't wanna say a word
Unless it points the world back to You
(Back to You)

Let the words I say
(Let the words I say)
Be the sound of Your grace
(Sound like Your grace)
I don't wanna say a word
Unless it points the world back to You

I wanna speak Your love
Not just another noise
Oh, I wanna be Your light
I wanna be Your voice

Let my words be life
Let my words be truth
I don't wanna say a word
Unless it points the world back to You
(Back to You)

Let the words I say
(Let the words I say)
Be the sound of Your grace
(Sound like Your grace)
I don't wanna say a word
Unless it points the world back to You
(Back to You)

Words can build us up
Words can break us down
Start a fire in our hearts
Or put it out

I don't wanna say a word
Unless it points the world back to You
