NAME CHANGE: The Family Place

CHILD & FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER LAUNCHES NEW NAME TO
“THE FAMILY PLACE”

(LOGAN, UT)—After 32 years of being known as the Child & Family Support Center of Cache County, Inc. (CFSC), the CFSC will officially change their name to The Family Place at a joint event with Lee’s Marketplace and the Cache Valley Morning Rotary on June 20, 2015.

Through a process of garnering input from stakeholders and hosting focus groups, the CFSC found that their name was continually being confused with other agencies in addition to having a stigma attached of only working with victims of child abuse. “Changing our name is a monumental step that has required careful consideration,” states Jim Payant, President of The Family Place Board of Directors. “The basic reasoning behind the change is to create a more family friendly and welcoming name that will also help to establish our own unique identity and allow us to reach and serve a larger population in the community.”

The emphasis of The Family Place is on building stronger families. Located at three convenient locations throughout Cache County (Hyrum, Logan and Smithfield), The Family Place is looking forward to continuing the tradition of supporting families through workshops and classes for parents and children, care for children at the Kid’s Place, counseling, the Good-Touch/Bad-Touch ® program and family focused activities such as the Princess Party, Superhero Party and Kids vs. Mud.

The Family Place will officially launch their new name at 1:00 p.m. during a brief presentation at the Lee’s Marketplace Classic Car Show over Father’s Day weekend in Logan. The Car Show will go from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and will not only feature an anticipated 100 classic cars, a live band and BBQ, but will provide family friendly activities for the community to enjoy. “Lee’s Marketplace is a family-oriented company that works to be involved in communities in which we serve,” said Jonathan Badger, President of Lee’s Marketplace. “The Family Place is the perfect partnership with Lee’s to make this goal a reality.”

Also included in the event is a children’s art show, a free-throw shooting challenge, a putting green, tricycle drag racing, a t-shirt cannon, bounce house, and face painting. Arial Assault, a traveling gymnastics circus, along with High Point Gymnastics has also donated their time to provide a thrilling performance on the trampoline throughout the event.

Proceeds from the food and raffle ticket sales will help fulfill the $2,500 commitment that the Cache Valley Morning Rotary, with the support of Lee’s Marketplace, has made to The Family Place.

Esterlee Molyneux, Executive Director of The Family Place is thrilled over the prospect of the new name and the support of the community. “Cache Valley prides itself on strong families which are the foundation of our strong community. The role of The Family Place is to uplift, edify and encourage the good things that families are already doing, and to be here to support them during the stressful and challenging times as well.”

The Child & Family Support Center will remain the legal name of The Family Place.
