Gearing Up for Back to School

Summer vacations are winding down and kids are heading back to school!  Be sure you have checked everything off your list to ensure your family is geared up and ready to go.  In addition to school supplies and school clothes, here are a couple of ideas that may make your transition from summer to school year a little easier:
  1. School Lunch Ideas - There are some great blogs with school lunch ideas, and Lees Marketplace offers some suggestions for after school snack ideas.
  2. Get Ready to Learn - Spend a little extra time reading with the kids, or brush up on math skills with some fun online games.
  3. Fall Sleep Schedules - Going to bed an hour earlier each night can get them (and you) ready for a more structured sleep schedule and have them wide awake and geared up for learning on the first day of school.
Back to school time often means a little free time for Mom or Dad.  Have you thought about volunteering while the kids are in school?  Cache Valley Volunteer Center has a variety of opportunities available, so you may find an option that is the perfect fit for you.

If you don't have time to volunteer, you can still give back to the community by donating "Back-to-School" supplies to one of our area non-profit organizations that offer assistance to families in need:
If you have a student entering grades 9-12, we encourage them to join our TEAM Mentoring program.  Our daily club meetings include fun team-building activities that develop life skills, we preform service projects that helps us know our community better, and we tutor elementary-age children.

TEAM youth also receive assistance in preparing for college through homework tutoring, ACT prep, finding appropriate scholarships, and filling out FAFSA forms, college and scholarship appications.
